Change Default Email Application Mac For Sending Excel Files
Changing the Default App. If you want to change the default app that opens a certain file type, you need to find a file that has the correct file type. So if you want all PNG files to open in a new app, you will need an PNG image to perform this. Locate your file and right click (Alt click) on the icon. This will bring you a menu with a number of actions on it.
The next step is to use one of the following methods to quickly locate the recent file. If you are using Windows 10 then you can see the list of recent items by selecting Quick Access on the Navigation Pane, then scroll down to the Recent Files section. On a Mac you can view all your files and sort the Date Modified column to show the most recent items first.
Sometimes Outlook ‘forgets’ that it’s the place for all email work. You click on an email address and should get an Outlook new message window.
Tip: A list of your accounts is in the left pane of the Accounts box, and the default account is at the top of the list. • Select the account that you want to make the default account. • In the bottom, left pane of the Accounts box, click Set as Default. Notes • To send an email message from an account other than your default account, under Inbox, select the account in the list.
You can add and delete sheets, but you can also change the number of default sheets, as follows. • Click the File tab and then click Options (under Help). In Excel 2007, click the Office button and then click Excel Options. In Excel 2003, choose Options from the Tools menu. • Click General in the left pane.
If you want Excel to try to import more than just tables, change TablesOnlyFromHTML to false. Sub RunMyQuery() Dim TheURL As String Let TheURL = 'ActiveWindow.View = xlNormalView Range('A1').Select With ActiveSheet.QueryTables.Add(Connection:='URL;' & TheURL, Destination:=Range('A1')).BackgroundQuery = True.TablesOnlyFromHTML = True.Refresh BackgroundQuery:=False.SaveData = True End With Cells.Select With Selection.WrapText = False End With Cells.EntireColumn.AutoFit Range('A1').Select Exit Sub End Sub.
I am Using 64 Bits windows 7 ultimate operating System and Microsoft office 2013. In the Microsoft outlook i added entered options and click on default and saved. Also from control Panel i entered default program -set default-choose outlook(desktop). There is a statement ( this program has all its defaults) clicked on set default, nothing changed. Also clicked on choose default for this program, unfortunately all are selected including MailTO. I can't deselect anything in that list or select anything.
March 3, 2016 Hi Nate, Yes, I actually have a link to a macro that does that in the article. But it became kind of hidden with all the other options for copying the file path. I actually use the method you are describing. Here is a screenshot of the button I setup in the QAT that calls the Copy_File_Path macro. See, I do use Excel 2010.
It appears the CDO library isn't available. Nor, for some odd reason, winnet.dll So, what would be an equivalent, or suitable alternative, methodology in Mac Excel 2011? Basic design spec. 'ThisWorkbook' analyzes data from one (or more) other workbooks, constructing a short summary report message 'payload' and then mailing it to multiple recipients with file attachments which may or may not be an Excel XLSX workbook (.
Hello Diane, Thank you for your attention and efforts. However, none of the suggestions for Outlook Express [msimn.exe] are available nor work to make OE the 'default Mail handler' in Windows 10. There is no user-accessible selection method for non-registered programs. Note: OE works in Windows 10, but cannot be made the default client.
The Mail app on your Mac is a decent email app and comes pre-installed and set as the default email client. However, if you don’t want to use the Mail app as the default email client, you can use a different email app, such as Microsoft Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird, and I’ll show you how. Third-party email clients on the Mac may ask you, when you first run them, whether you want to set that email app as the default email client. If you missed that opportunity, or the app never asked, you can set the default email client manually. The process of changing the default email client on your Mac is not obvious and may seem a bit strange, but it’s easy to do. How to Change the Default Email Client on Your Mac Step 1 To begin, open the Mail app and select Preferences from the Mail menu. Yes, you heard me right.
The ‘Default Programs’ button will open the Windows Control Panel.
And also allow them to monitor it for unnatural traffic. Using CDOSYS, the mail message to be sent was simply dropped onto the dedicated mail server directly --- thus ignoring the local user and email applications altogether. However, the CDO functionality isn't available on OSX. ~~~~ Meanwhile, using a browser, or ActiveX control, Form controls, etc to trigger sending the mail is just the front end.
Sample entries are as follows, for different Microsoft e-mail programs: Email Application Command Internet Mail and News rundll32.exe C: Windows System Mailnews.dll,Mail_RunDLL Outlook Express 'C: Program Files Outlook Express Msimn.exe' /mailurl:%1 Windows Messaging or Microsoft Exchange rundll32.exe url.dll,MailToProtocolHandler '%1' Microsoft Outlook 'C: Program Files Microsoft Office Office Outlook.exe' -c IPM.Note /m '%1' Adjust the path to Mailnews.dll or Outlook.exe as needed to match your own system. Notes Outlook 8.02 and later versions support additional parameters in mailto commands placed in web pages and e-mail messages, to add the subject and more recipients. Some examples: mailto:someone@slipstick.com;test@example.com?subject=Comment mailto:test@example.com?subject=Suggestion?cc=me@mycompany.com?bcc=myboss@mycompany.com.
• Click Preferences. • Click the dropdown next to Default Mail Reader. • Click the app you'd like to set as the default. Let us know in the comments below.
New Recent Items feature in Outlook 2016 Outlook 2016 also has a new Recent Items feature in the Attach File menu. I really like this new feature because it allows you to see, and quickly attach multiple files that you are working on. You can still access the files in Excel and work on them. If you do make any changes to the file you will need to delete the attachment and re-attach the most recently saved version. The keyboard shortcut to attach the most recent file in Outlook 2016 is: Alt, H, A, F, Enter Alt, H, A, F will bring up this new menu in 2016. Hit Enter to attach the most recent file.
It fails to open the word document. Similarly, when a user double clicks on an attachment which is a PDF file, Outlook tries to open it with Adobe Photoshop. This will work for most PDF files. However, loading, a file on Photoshop takes time and it allows viewing the file in a single page at one time.
• In the Style dialog, click Format. • Click the Alignment tab and select the Wrap Text option in the Text Control section, shown in Figure J. • Click OK twice.
(Thanks to Charlie for suggesting this in the!) Please with your preferred method. I would love to learn some new ways to do this. Wayne - November 9, 2018 Hi there. I have created a excel book with a few sheets (+-25). My first few sheets contain date which I update monthly. Then I have all the other sheets pulling information from the data sheet to display information in certain formats etc.
We all have our own default choice of programs to open or view. For example, I use Adobe to open PDF files, for audio and video and MS Outlook as my desktop email client. Since I have a default choice of email client, it is obvious that I would have all my contact information and associated details in it.
You see the same behaviour with links: if you click a link to a website, then macOS will load this website in Safari, and if you click a link to an email address, then macOS will launch the Apple Mail app. While this can be useful for providing you with quick and easy access to content, if a file or link is associated with the “wrong” application, then this feature can quickly become frustrating, as you may find yourself constantly closing applications that you didn’t even want to open in the first place. In this quick tip I’ll be showing you how to change the default application for any file, and how to change macOS’ default browser from Safari, to any other web browser of your choice. Even if you’re currently happy with your Mac’s default apps, it’s still useful to know how to change these settings, as occasionally you may install a third party app only for that app to appoint itself as the new default app for a particular file type. If you’re not happy with this change, then you’ll need to manually adjust your Mac’s default app settings. Change your default browser Out-of-the-box, macOS uses Safari as its default web browser, but you can tell your Mac to open links in any other browser you have installed: • Navigate to ‘System Preferences > General.’ • Open the ‘Default web browser’ dropdown, and choose your preferred browser from the list. Change your default email app By default, whenever you click on an email address macOS will respond by launching the Mail application.
To change the account from which a message is sent, select an account on the From pop-up menu in the email message. If you have added only one account to Outlook, the From pop-up menu is not available. • When you forward or reply to a message, Outlook uses the account to which the original message was sent. To change this preference, on the Outlook menu, click Preferences, and then under E-mail, click Composing.
From the excel file I have the FILE LOCATION located above the formula bar. I copy that (it has path and file name) open up Email, Click attachment and paste the path & file name in the File Name box. I have done this for a long time, but I will try your methods too! You will need to add the File Location to your QAT (see below) (I’m sorry I am unable to attach a screen shot at this time – I’m trying to send to Jon the jpg file) Thank you for your site! March 2, 2016 Thanks Salvatore! These are great suggestions! I received your image and recreated it to fit in the post.

Hello, I am running Mac OS 10.6 and also running Windows 7 64bit on a VM via Parallels 6. Within Mac OS 10.6, my default email client is Outlook for Mac 2011. When I run Microsoft Visio 2010 on the Windows 7 VM, I want to send the current file that I am working in an email. When I click on 'Send this file as an attachment' within Visio, I get an error message: 'There is no email program associated to perform the requested action. Please install an email program, or if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel'.
Regards, Phil. Hello Diane, Using OE6.v.05 msimn.exe (from XP) in Windows 10.
Well, there are a few reasons I avoid it: • You cannot make changes to the file after you have attached it. In some versions of Office you cannot edit the file in Excel either. I always find myself needing to make changes to the file or take screenshots before I send it. • It doesn't work if you are using an email application in your web browser like Gmail or Yahoo mail. • It only works for attaching one file to an email. • It only works for new emails. Often times I will be attaching a file to a reply.
Under Format and account, clear the Reply and forward using the default e-mail account check box. Set up your default email reader Your default mail reader is what's used when you're browsing a web page and share it via email with a friend or colleague, or mail it to yourself for further reading. The Mac default is to use the Mail app, but you can change the default to Outlook. • Open Finder > Applications. • Select Mail. • Select Mail > Preferences.
Not tested and copied from a source I can't remember were or from who, sorry. # Setting Outlook as default Mail app. Thanks for the script. It did lead me in the right direction! During testing I found a few problems. $username isn't set anywhere. For JAMF, this should be $3 2.
