I really enjoy formatting as I type, and using keyboard shortcuts makes it fast and easy. I write screenplays, among other things, and I need a program with styles that I can assign keyboard shortcuts to so I can change styles rapidly. When I quit doing software training, I got a Mac and switched to Pages, which is a great little program. Not as robust as Word, but I could do what I needed to with styles, so I was happy.

I also didn’t like how a Scrivener manuscript is associated with its own project folder, which made it difficult to keep track of different projects when using the cloud to work on a manuscript across multiple computers.
