Free software alternatives to Office like LibreOffice may still raise eyebrows, but Google has normalized many people to using Google Docs for their productivity software and collaboration needs, for example. Microsoft is today introducing a of its office software designed for Mac users, Office 2016. Office 2016 for Mac is the company's first major Mac release since Office 2011, and it brings new versions of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint with redesigned Retina-optimized interfaces, new features, and a heavy focus on collaboration and cloud integration. I noted one first-release glitch when I originally looked at Office for the Mac when it first released in 2015. When I saved a Word document to PDF, the hyperlinks in the saved PDF didn't work, because an extra character somehow got added to the Web address. Office 365 is tied to the desktop version of Microsoft Visio which isn't available for Mac. However, if you were to install and run Windows on your Mac in a partition, you could then use Office 365 on a Mac. I tried this workaround though and found it was very laggy and made using the Mac very slow at times. I'm currently trying a few Visio alternatives - there's many suggestions here: some of which can also edit Visio files.
