Adding rows to an Excel for Mac 2011 table I had a list in an older version of Excel that I managed to convert to a table in Excel for Mac 2011. But when I try to add new rows, they do not seem to be recognized as part of the table. Excel 2011 supports path names up to 255 characters long. Did Microsoft improve the program’s ability to paste text from external applications into merged cells? Yes and no: Microsoft says that it fixed some bugs regarding pasting into merged cells, but it can’t guarantee that all data from all apps will paste successfully. Can a cell in Excel reference data that's available from a Website and then update at selected intervals of time? Yes and no: You can update a cell in Excel reference data from a Website, but you cannot set the interval time.
Yes, I know about inserting rows--but as in your example, when I am at the bottom of the table I cannot add rows below. What I can do is insert rows above the last row that is recognized as part of the table. I can then use those rows as part of the table, and will keep a dummy row at the bottom. But that means I either have to be satisifed with inserting only one row at a time, or end up with my rows out of order. Neither problem is critical, but I still would like to know why Excel doesn't recognize additional rows below as part of the table.

Unfortunately, Excel doesn’t remember custom size/shape settings for any Ribbon-based windows, so you’ll have to resize them each time they’re activated. Improved filters: Excel 2011's filters are more in line with their Windows counterparts. People who rely on pivot tables will appreciate Excel 2011's automatic pivot table creation, a new PivotTable Builder to ease building and modification of pivot tables, and pivot table report designs, layouts, and styles.I found both building and manipulating pivot tables to be much simpler in Excel 2011 than in the 2008 version. Tables (previously known as lists) have similarly gotten a full makeover in Excel 2011. Creating tables is as simple as selecting your data and choosing a layout from the Ribbon (or from the menus). Once you've done that, it’s easy to filter and sort your data.

Microsoft added some menu-item shortcuts similar to what you get in Excel for Windows. However, as the Mac and Windows operating systems differ, there are some differences in the shortcuts. Does pressing the slash key (/) in Excel 2011 jump the focus up to the menu bar, as it does in the Windows version? The Mac version used to do this; it was nice to not have to reach for the mouse. No, that is not supported in Excel 2011.

Can I set the menus and Ribbons in Excel 2011 so they’re the same as in Excel 2007 for Windows? Although the user interface is similar on both platforms, they are a bit different, so you won’t be able to make Excel 2011 look and feel exactly the same as Excel 2007. Did Microsoft add menu-item shortcuts to Excel for Mac like the ones that are in Excel for Windows?
This question already has an answer here: • 7 answers Does anybody know the keyboard shortcuts or menu commands to fill a formula down without dragging? I'm using Excel for Mac 2011 on a MacBook. I've got a spreadsheet like this pattern but for like 5000 rows: A, B, C, D 5, 1, 3 =SUM(A1:C1) 3, 2, 4. I know how to hover over D1 and get the handle and drag down, but there must be an easier way. There are a billion tips online but I'm not finding any that work. FWIW, Macbook has some exceptions to shortcut key rules, so that's probably why, I guess.
